On weekends, the grounds of the Château de Chillon will be the setting for the 5th Montreux Noël Medieval Market and Story Festival.
Experience a return to days of yore, an unforgettable opportunity to go back in time and explore the history, the customs and the daily life of the Middle Ages illustrated by people in period costumes.
The Story Festival will transport you into the fascinating world of great tales of chivalry and stories of other eras.
On 3-4 / 10-11 /17-18 December 2011 from 10:00 am 18:00 Château life and history will come alive with: a re-enactment of medieval cooking – a medieval grocery store – a herbalists shop - ovens - pottery – a blacksmith – shoemaker and tannery – a candle maker – a wood turner – basket-making - dying and wool spinning – calligraphy and heraldry – illumination.
All these demonstrations will take place to the sound of period instruments and in the company of jongleurs, fire throwers and fire eaters. A highly colourful re-enactment at which the public can visit the stands and converse with minstrels and artisans wearing period costumes.

The Story Festival always gives great pleasure to children as they listen to tales, savour words and share in an imaginary world. The shows and entertainment for children have been chosen and orchestrated with diversity and quality in mind.
Every Saturday and Sunday, from 3 to 18 December 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Set within the walls of the famous Château de Chillon, the Medieval Market is located near a VMCV bus stop. We therefore recommend that visitors come by train to the Montreux Railway Station and then take the bus towards Villeneuve to the “Chillon” bus stop.

Click on the link below for the bus schedule from the Montreux Railway Station to the Château de Chillon, i.e. from the “Escaliers de la gare” stop (not in front of the station, but at the bottom of the stairs that go down to the Lake from the station) to the “Chillon” stop.
During the week, visitors to the Christmas Market can park their vehicles in one of the 4 underground car parks in the town of Montreux. They are located near the Christmas Market and the Market Place.
On weekends, cars are directed to car parks at the edge of town. Shuttle buses ensure visitors’ transportation to the centre of the Christmas Market as of 12 noon. Parking is free.
